Well I was just told about this local spot as we were talking about another place here in Santa Barbara that had incredible pastrami sandwiches (nortons) which I haven’t been to in many years. So I ordered “Dar’s Sky High Pastrami” and even asked the nice girl if it is actually piled sky high with meat (you know what I mean) she kinda chuckled. Nope! I was expecting about twice the amount of meat they put on my sandwich for the price I paid of $14.75 - definitely not worth it smh. If you’re gonna name it sky high you better put enough meat! To be fair idk maybe they would have piled it high with coleslaw and slathered I with a bunch of thousand island sauce , but I don’t like either of those things so… to be fair the little bit of meat that it did have was pretty good and the thick roll was also nice and crispy. It had a little slice or two of Swiss cheese. But it’s unforgivable for that price of nearly $15 to be left hungry still after having this entire sandwich.

Fresh bread + quality meat + fresh ingredients + yummy sauces = killer sandwich and a perfect lunch. Cooper gives it 5 wags and so do l.

I lived in Santa Barbara 27 years ago, and South Coast Deli is still one of the things I miss most. I drive up from LA a few times a year, and every time I do, I make sure to stop by for a sandwich. It’s that good. Back in the day, I practically lived at the Goleta location, but now they've got three more throughout the SB area.

My husband and daughter accompanied me to this sandwich shop in Santa Barbara. The sandwiches were yummy and reasonable for this area. There were quite a few to pick from. And they were made up right away and brought to our table. The manager was on hand and helped us with cutting a sandwich in fourths. The restaurant is very small, but we got a table and had a lovely lunch.

We went to South Coast Deli in Santa Barbara after one of our buddies told us that this was like his family’s go-to spot every single time they came up here. He said it’s a must every trip. He and his mom apparently have been coming here for years, and funny enough, they don’t even get sandwiches. He said what they always get, and what they’ve always been known for, is their Cobb salad. So of course, I had to see what the hype was about. We had a little group with us, my wife and two other couples, and all of us decided to go for it and order the Cobb salad. I’m not even exaggerating when I say I was blown away by how big the bowl was when it came out. I was expecting a smaller salad plate or something basic, but this thing came out looking like a full-on meal for two. Huge, loaded, and just absolutely stacked with everything. The bacon bits, the blue cheese, the eggs, the dressing, all of it came together perfectly. The flavor was incredible, and every bite just worked. You could tell they use quality ingredients, and the balance of everything was just right. I’m normally not even a big Cobb salad guy, but this one completely changed my mind.
